Sugar Mountain Ski Area has a high of 5,300 feet, a vertical drop of 1,200 feet, a longest run of 1 1/2 miles and 115 skiable acres, Sugar Mountain Resort is the largest ski area in North Carolina. Because of the high elevation, it's always cold at the top and man-made SnowBlowing occurs almost every night at Sugar mountain. Sugar Mountain Resort first opened in 1969 for skiers and has since expanded its winter operation to include snowboarding, tubing and snowshoeing. Summer activities include Summer Lift Rides, the Showdown at Sugar NORBA National Mountain Bike Series event, and Oktoberfest. Slopes and trails are varied to accommodate beginners with the Magic Carpet area, the experts with double black diamond Whoopdedoo or anyone in between. Large Ski/Snowboard School programs are available for group, private or children’s lessons and Group Sales department handles groups of 15 or more. Make plans to visit Sugar Mountain Resort this year with your friends and family. No matter what it looks like in Charlotte or Atlanta, here is almost always snow on the ground at Sugar Mountain North Carolina. Snowmaking & Grooming are an integral part of Sugar Mountain Resort. 100% of our slopes have snowmaking capabilities. They are meticulously groomed and inspected at least twice a day to ensure the best conditions possible. Check our mountain webcams.
